Abdul Raouf, 203rd Corps Public Affairs)Numerous tribal elders and GIRoA officials from across Paktya attended the regional shura to show support for Afghan-led initiatives that create stability in the province.
Even though route leading to the event had been attacked by insurgent forces earlier in the day, more than 2,000 Afghan civilians still attended the event to discuss how to bring peace to the area.

The shura was organized by leaders from Paktya, with security provided by the Afghan National Army commandos and the 203rd Corps 2-3 Kandak.

However, until recently, there was no safe and effective manner to dispose of sewage, as there was no sewage treatment plant in the area.
