LOGAR PROVINCE, Afghanistan - Afghan National Directorate of Security and Coalition forces from Task Force Bayonet seized several caches of illegal weapons and ammunition including RPGs, rockets, grenades, IED-making materials and small-arms ammunition, Jan. 26.
The combined force responded to a tip, moved into the area, met with local leaders and explained the purpose of the operation. They unearthed bags containing the contraband weapons and ammunition. The weapons were brought to a safe location and destroyed.“Every illegal weapon cache we remove brings increased security to the people of these villages and districts” said U.S. Army Capt. Daniel Williams, who led the U.S. element on the operation. “The mission would not have been successful without the NDS. They were instrumental in talking with the local elders and locating the caches.”
