On November 20th in Chongqing Sapa Chalco Aluminium Products signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Danish company Sjolund A/S. Sjolund is company that is primary doing bending of aluminium profiles, mainly for transportation application such as rolling stock. The company has one manufacturing site in Denmark and another one in China (for further information please see the attached company presentation).

The agreement, that the two companies signed, is covering rolling stock business in China. The main purpose with this cooperation agreement is:
Cooperate technically in order to provide the rolling stock market a complete product concept.
Achieve cost efficient solutions for both companies in the supply chain.
Act jointly with “go-to-the-market” activities.

In his speech the CEO of SCAP, Mr Torbjorn Sternsjo, gave the following comment on the cooperation agreement with Sjolund; “Today’s business is complex and you have to act fast on the market. A company cannot solely mobilize all necessary resources in order to offer the market a complete aluminium solution. A Strategic Cooperation Agreements such as this one with Sjolund provides SCAP a possibility to pro-actively introduce to the Chinese market a complete rolling stock aluminium solution”.

Mr. Soren Ravn Jensen, CEO of Sjolund was overwhelmingly positive to the agreement as such and the ceremony in Chongqing on the November 20th:
“This was a perfect arrangement and we could not wish a better start of our cooperation with Sapa Chalco. I am convinced that this agreement will result in a Win-Win situation for both companies. Sjolund will do everything to make this cooperation successful”.

Sapa was represented at the ceremony with among others Mr Sven Lundin, Mr Bob Wight and Mr Dieter Andersag from the Sapa Global Key Account organization. In his speech Mr Sven Lundin addressed Sapa’s very good experience of working together with Sjolund on the European market. “Sapa and Sjolund have several years of good experience of working together with aluminium rolling stock solutions. Both companies have achieved successful business with customers such as Alstom and Siemens”.

The two companies, SCAP and Sjolund, have initiated start up activities which will take place immediately after the signing of the agreement. There will be an initial focus for the two organizations on learning of the counterparts’ respective business capabilities. After this initial learning process, a detailed road-map of common activities will be outlined and executed.
