RC-East operational update | Aug. 2

BAGRAM, Afghanistan - Afghan and coalition forces killed six insurgents, detained seven, located one weapons cache and cleared 14 improvised explosive devices during operations in eastern Afghanistan throughout the past 24 hours, Aug. 1.

Ghazni Province

Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces detained five insurgents while investigating a weapons cache in Andar District. The cache contained small arms and ammunition and a grenade. The detained suspects were transferred to a base for questioning.

Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces found and safely cleared an IED in Khwaia Omari District.

Khowst Province

Afghan National Army soldiers and coalition forces detained an insurgent while investigating an IED in Sabari District. The IED was safely cleared and the detained suspect was transferred to a base for questioning.

Kunar Province

Afghan National Army soldiers and coalition forces killed six insurgents during engagements in Nari District and Ghaziabad District.

Logar Province

Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces found and safely cleared six IEDs, three in Pul-E Alam District and three in Muhammad Aghah District.

Nangarhar Province

Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces found and safely cleared two IEDs, one in Jalalabad District and one in Chapahar District.

Paktika Province

Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces found and safely cleared an IED in Mota Khan District.

Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces detained an insurgent during an engagement in Bermal District. The detained suspect was transferred to a base for questioning.

Wardak Province

Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces found and safely cleared three IEDs, one in Maidan Shahr District, one in Sayyidabad District and one in Chak-E Wardak District.

Operations in RC-East are still ongoing.
