RC-East operational update | July 27

BAGRAM, Afghanistan – Afghan and coalition forces killed one insurgent, detained seven, located two weapons caches and cleared five improvised explosive devices during operations in eastern Afghanistan throughout the past 24 hours, July 26.

Ghazni Province

Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces discovered a weapons cache in Ghazni District. The cache contained homemade explosives being used for IEDs.

Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces found and safely cleared two IEDs, one in Gelan District and one in Qarah Bagh District.

Khowst Province

Afghan National Army soldiers and coalition forces detained an insurgent while investigating a weapons cache in Sabari District. The cache contained small arms and ammunition, a grenade, and spotting scopes. The detained suspect was transferred to a base for questioning.

Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces detained two insurgents during an engagement in Nadir Shah Kot District. The detained suspects were transferred to a base for questioning.

Kunar Province

Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces killed an insurgent during an engagement in Nari District.

Logar Province

Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces detained an insurgent during an engagement in Pul-E Alam District. The detained suspect was transferred to a base for questioning.

Nangarhar Province

Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces found and safely cleared two IEDs, one in Bati Kot District and one in Nazyan District.

Paktika Province

Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces found and safely cleared an IED in Orgun District.

Paktya Province

Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces detained three insurgents in Lajah Ahmad Khel District. The detained suspects were transferred to a base for questioning.

Operations in RC-East are still ongoing.
