French BG Wild Geese conduct scouting mission

FOB NIRJAB, Afghanistan - Recently, the Battle Group Wild Geese lead Operation Grey Geese 3, which was a scouting mission of the road between Kabul and the Forward Operating Base Nijrab Aug. 16, 2012. It was to recognize the zone in which the BG Wild Geese may have to intervene if necessary and be able to provide support to Afghan security and coalition forces present in the area.

The operation was supported by a platoon from the other French BG, BG Steel, which is equipped with armored infantry combat vehicles, reinforced by the 92nd Infantry Regiment. For the first time in the nearly three months they were deployed together, the two French VBCI platoon have crossed together on the Vermont route.

The 350 soldiers of BG Wild Geese are deployed to Camp Warehouse in Kabul. In charge of the protection of the camp, they may also be asked to act as a Quick Reaction Force in the area of the French Task Force La Fayette.
