GHAZNI PROVINCE, Afghanistan - Tiger III, a one month operation in Khugyani District, was recently completed by Afghan National Security Forces and their coalition partners.
The operation was lead by an Afghan National Army kandak from the third brigade and was supported by Polish Soldiers from Task Force White Eagle and U.S. forces.
The operation lasted one month and focused on regaining control over Khugyani District to extend the security zone deeper into the area and give the Afghan government and security forces a foothold in the district.
It was the first time, during the current deployment, ANSF and coalition forces conducted an air-field operation. More than 300 Polish and Afghan troops were brought in to conduct it.
During the operation, many firefights with anti-Afghan forces broke out and now a long-lasting presence of ANSF in the area has enforced mutual relations with the local population.
The operation ended with formal meetings with district elders in order to find out what local villages needed and what their expectations for the future are. Both security issues and economic progress were two of the top priorities discussed.
