Jebediah Stewart, a gunner and East Concord, Vt., native, both with the mortars section of Troop C, 1st Squadron, 172nd Cavalry Regiment, 86th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Mountain) prepare ammunition prior to firing at Joint Combat Outpost Pul-e-Sayad Aug. 23. This is the first time mortars have been fired at the JCOP since it was built earlier this summer. Since they arrived in Afghanistan, the Troop C mortars section has fired the most rounds in all of the mortar sections in Regional Command East. Earlier this summer, in the village of Dandar, the Troop C mortars section distinguished itself by providing fire support missions to troops in contact.
