BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan – Soldiers from the Republic of Korea, Task Force Taegeuk, took part in a combat patch ceremony here July 14.
Members of the task force received the patch of the 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade, TF Falcon, which is the unit TF Taegeuk is subordinate to.
U.S. Army Col. Don Galli, the TF Falcon commander from Haverton, Pa., spoke during the ceremony, explaining the history of the 3rd Infantry Division and the symbolism of the combat patch’s design.
“We are honored for you to wear our combat patch,” said Galli. “I am proud to have you here with us and look forward to working alongside you.”
TF Taegeuk’s presence in Afghanistan marks the first time an aviation unit from the Republic of Korea has operated outside of their country.
