Hoffman, a culinary arts teacher in Northfield, Vt., is assisting local villagers in building a school in Bamyan. BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan – Jonathan Hoffman, a Northfield, Vt., teacher and humanitarian, accepts a commanders coin from U.S. Army Col. Will Roy, Task Force Wolverine, 86th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Mountain) commander. Hoffman, who helped Afghans finance and build more than 11 schools during the past nine summers in poor, rural Afghanistan communities, is building his latest school in Bamyan Province, which is in TF Wolverine’s area of responsibilty.
