PANJSHIR PROVINCE, Afghanistan- The Panjshir Reconstruction Team and hundreds of local and provincial leaders attended the introduction of Eidee Mohammad Tareq, the new Khenj District Governor leader, June 7.
Tareq replaced former district governor Mohamed Said after Said’s long and prosperous career as the district Governor. In his opening speech, Tareq said he looked forward to future cooperation between the people of Panjshir and the Provincial Reconstruction Team.
“I’m happy to see all the people here and I want to develop a strong partnership in the future with the PRT for Khenj District and for the rest of the province,” Tareq said.Panjshir’s Deputy Governor Abdul Rahman Kabiri, reminded the crowd that change happens and that they should embrace the new district governor and thank Mohamed Said for all his past accomplishments.
“Change is inevitable and we should honor the accomplishments of Mohamed Said,” Kabiri said. “He embraced working with the PRT on many projects, and we look forward to continuing those projects in the future.”
The commander of the Panjshir PRT, Air Force Lt. Col. Curtis E. Velasquez, also looks forward to a strong and prosperous relationship with Tareq in the future.
“Tareq is the right man to make a difference and make prosperity come to Khenj,” Velasquez said. “I hope to have a great relationship with him to bring better support to Khenj” Being invited to his introduction to the people sets the tone for our joint commitment to the people of Khenj and its new district Governor Tareq.”
