Bamyan University hosts media training

PROVINCE, Afghanistan - A group of professional journalists attend a media workshop at the U.S. Lincoln Center at Bamyan University June 4 to learn about the media roundtables and social media. Mahtab Farid, a public diplomacy officer with the U.S. State Department, taught the class using a number of mock roundtables with special guests, including the Governor of Bamyan’s spokesperson and directors of media organizations. During the second session of the class, reporters learned how to use their blog to post their stories and worked on enhancing the overall design of the weblogs. (Photo courtesy of Mahtab Farid, U.S. State Department)BAMYAN PROVINCE, Afghanistan - A group of young, aspiring, female journalists attended a one-day media workshop taught by Mahtab Farid, a public diplomacy officer with the U.S. State Department, at the Lincoln Center at Bamyan University June 4. During the workshop, students learned about the basics of journalism and interviewing skills. The director of Bamyan Radio, Ali Erfan visited the workshop with his senior reporter to help the class during the mock interviews. Students had a chance to practice interviews in front of the class and were given feedback on their progress. As part of the hands-on training, the students were invited by Erfan to visit the radio station to practice their voice and record some programming for the women of Afghanistan.
