KAPISA PROVINCE, Afghanistan – After two days in the south of Tagab valley in Afghanistan’s Kapisa province, French Task Force Altor, Task Force La Fayette, continue their missions under Operation Kapisa Synapse, March 3.For TF La Fayette, the main objective of the operation was to support the building of a new combat outpost in the valley to ensure the presence of Afghan National Security Forces in the area.
“Task Force Altor arrived with the three maneuver and support units. Right now, 500 people are on the ground. The maneuver idea is simple: we have to contain insurgents and (prevent) them from conducting attacks on the main road and against the area during construction,” said French Army Col. Eric Bellot des Minieres, commander of TF La Fayette.
In neighboring villages, the French colonel with a civilian-military actions team used the opportunity to consolidate some development projects that were started before the operation.
“The general idea of our engagement is not to precede our arrival by fire, but by the explanation and the concrete action that the local population will benefit from,” Bellot des Minieres said.
Mohammad Ajan, malek of the Kam Shenkai village, confirmed that good relationship between the military and civilian population.
“Today we inaugurate a well, which was financed by French forces and built by a local business; we have also built a wall to prevent flooding in a nearby village. These are projects that meet the needs of people in the district,” the malek said.
