KONAR PROVINCE, Afghanistan – A total of 427 goats, cows, and donkeys received inoculations, de-worming, and treatment for skin diseases and parasitic infections at Kandaru village, March 6.

The Veterinary Civil Assistance Program is administered by local Afghan government officials and Coalition Agricultural Development Teams.  

Local Afghan veterinary specialists and laborers were hired and did most of the work.

Animals from 12 villages were brought to the event, which cost only $1,500 for labor and supplies.

Nearby in Alingar Province, Afghan National Security Forces and Coalition forces seized and destroyed a large cache of ammunition and explosives found in a cave near the village of Kesherdaka, Feb.25.

The cache included mortars, rockets, mines, small arms ammunition, blasting caps and a variety unknown projectiles and explosive devices. The cache was rendered safe for transportation to a location, away from local civilian’s, and destroyed.
