Afghan general visits Parwan operations command center

PARWAN PROVINCE, Afghanistan - Afghan National Army officials and representatives from Regional Command East visited the Operations Command Center – Provincial in Charikar, Parwan province, Afghanistan, Nov. 8.

The purpose of the visit was to assess the conditions where the Afghan army, police and other security forces of Parwan province are living, working and eating.

Maj. Gen. Mohammad Wardak, Afghan National Army, 201st Corps commanding general, and Col. Clarence Chinn, Combined Joint Task Force – 82, deputy commander for support, listened to concerns of the leaders of the OCC-P and discussed what they could do to change or update the areas of the compounds.

Wardak spoke to the servicemen of the OCC-P stated his firm stance on wanting to work with coalition forces to update the buildings at the OCC-Ps or moving the OCC-P and stated, “Parwan is the key.”

“We want to improve our OCC-Ps so we can play a better role,” said Wardak. “It’s very hard to have an office, chow hall and living quarters together.”  

Chinn spoke to the servicemen about his willingness to assist them with improved living and operational conditions and their importance to the security of the area.

“At Bagram Air Field we are counting on you for our security,” said Chinn. “We continue to look forward to working together with you in the future.”

Wardak said he and those in his chain-of-command are now aware of the struggles that the men face on a day-to-day basis with living and working conditions and vowed, “We will resolve these problems.”
