Credible intelligence sources indicated the compounds, located in the Reeg District, were providing sanctuary to anti-Coalition militants.
During the course of the operation two individuals who posed a threat to the combined forces were killed.
“We’re putting maximum pressure on violent extremist forces at a phenomenal pace,” said Army Maj Chris Belcher, a Combined Joint Task Force-82 spokesman. “The combined teamwork of Afghan and Coalition forces is disrupting our adversaries’ networks and denying them the ability to operate effectively.”
The detainees will be questioned as to their involvement in militant activities.
There were no indications of injuries or deaths to non-combatants.
