BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan – Afghan and Coalition medical teams provided basic medical care to people, Sept 20, in Khowst Province.

Consisting of several Afghan and U.S. medical personnel, the teams travelled to the Khowst Province to conduct routine medical screenings and provide basic medical care to more than 75 people.

“Afghan and coalition medical teams frequently travel to various villages to help promote goodwill and provide free basic medical care and screenings to anyone who needs it,” said Army Maj. Christopher Belcher, a Combined Joint Task Force 82 spokesman.

The combined teams treated various medical issues ranging from scraped knees and dental issues to muscular skeletal deformities. They medically screened patients looking for physiological factors, family medical history, which could be used to prevent possible serious health issues, and advised patients that follow-on care may be needed.

As a safety measure, the medical teams were escorted by Afghan and coalition forces.
