GHAZNI PROVINCE, Afghanistan - Polish forces from Task Force White Eagle recently conducted a night operation that freed two Afghans who had been taken hostage by Taliban while travelling on Khugiani Road.
The Afghans were transporting well-water equipment to the Ghazni District Center when their truck was stopped by the Taliban and they were taken hostage. Once in captivity, they were beaten, and told daily they would be killed because they worked for coalition forces.
“I told them I was a civilian; that I didn’t work for the government” said one of the hostages, who is from Ghazni Province. “This is not from Islam. They kill people. They don’t have mercy. They don’t follow Islamic rule and law.”
After receiving information, Coalition Forces in coordination with Afghan National Security Forces, raided the compound freeing the hostages.
“I am very happy now. I want to see my family, they are waiting for me,” said a released hostage. “I thank the coalition forces.”
Five Taliban were captured in the operation according to the Polish Forces who freed the hostages.
