BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan – Early today in Ghazni, credible intelligence led Afghan and Coalition forces to compounds suspected of housing members of the Taliban militant network.
Two suspected militants were wounded and detained in the operation, which took place in Andar district. Weapons, ammunition and grenades were found in the area.
One of the insurgents moved aggressively toward the forces and was injured as they responded. He was provided on-site care for a gunshot wound and was evacuated for additional medical treatment. The other sustained minor injuries during the operation and was also treated on site by Coalition forces.
During the course of operations, an armed male did not comply with verbal warnings, threatened the force and was engaged and killed by the force.
The detainees will be questioned as to their identities and involvement in militant activities.
There were no injuries or deaths to women or children. Some damage was done to buildings in the course of operations.
