BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan – One Coalition servicemember died of wounds sustained during a combat operation this morning.

Coalition forces were engaged in combat operations 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) west of Sangin District Center, in the vicinity of Qal’Eh-Ye Gaz, Helmand Province, when the servicemember sustained his fatal wounds from an improvised explosive device strike.

Four Coalition servicemembers were wounded in the strike and were transported to a military medical facility for treatment.

The names and nationalities of the deceased and wounded are being withheld pending the notification of next of kin.
