LAGHMAN PROVINCE, Afghanistan– The women of Laghman province are making great strides in the development of women’s affairs in the province.

Afghan Women have been encouraged to participate in the bi-monthly bazaar at Forward Operating Base Mehtar Lam in the eastern Afghanistan province.


The women who sell their locally produced merchandise bring diversity to the bazaar as well as encourage small business opportunities for women in the area.

The success of the initial six saleswomen at the bazaar is hoped to grow and gain more support in the future.

Additionally, approximately 30 women from the villages of Gamba and Kasigar recently participated in an instructional program to teach tailoring as a way to earn sustainable income and provide a needed service to their villages.

The women and girls received instruction on uses and the operation on new sewing machines as part of the tailoring skill program.
