KUNAR PROVINCE, Afghanistan–International Security Assistance Force servicemembers met with the governor of Kunar to notify him of illicit agriculture growing in his province, March 1.

Soldiers of the 40th Infantry Division, Agribusiness Development Team met with governor Wahidi at his residence in the governors compound in Asadabad, to inform him of poppy plants growing in the Chowkay district.  

The governor was receptive of the information, which he passed on to the provincial police chief who stated that he will conduct an operation in the valley to eradicate the poppies.

ISAF ADTs will continue to assist and advise Afghan leadership and agricultural departments in providing alternative cash crops for farmers.
