KABUL, Afghanistan (April 03) - An International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) service member died of wounds and another was wounded after a hostile incident in eastern Afghanistan April 3.
“On behalf of the men and women of the International Security Assistance Force, I offer our heartfelt condolences to the loved ones of the brave soldier killed, and our support to the soldier wounded in this incident,” said Brigadier-General Richard Blanchette, ISAF Spokesperson. “As we recognise their sacrifice in our battle against a vicious insurgency, we will continue supporting the Afghan National Security Forces so that the Afghan people reap the tangible benefits of peace in their day-to-day lives.”
It is ISAF policy not to release the nationality of any casualty prior to the relevant national authority doing so.
Next of kin have been notified.
