2007_12_25_eid1.jpgBAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan – Afghan National Security Forces, assisted by Coalition forces, provided medical aid, food and oil to Afghans in five villages throughout Zabul Province, Dec. 22.
ANSF followed-up on previous visits, bringing more food and cooking oil to the widows of Ghundey, Band, Khanjak, Kala, and Enjar for Eid-al-Adha. The ANSF showed their respect for the widows by following the Muslim tradition of giving one-third of their Eid meal to the poor and widows.  2007_12_25_eid2.jpgThe elderly widows were very thankful for the supplies and they blessed the ANA with praise.  “May God protect you and preserve you,” said an Afghan widow.
“The villages in this area were previously Taliban strongholds, but we are now able to move freely,” said an Afghan National Army soldier.  “The security and assistance we provide is making a difference to the villagers.”
2007_12_25_eid.jpg“Security patrols, such as this, illustrate that the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan not only continues to establish a stable and secure environment for the people, but the Government of the IRoA is also committed to increasing the quality of life for all people in Afghanistan,” said Army Maj. Chris Belcher, a Combined Joint Task Force-82 spokesman.
