KABUL, Afghanistan – Afghan National Security Forces and Coalition forces on a joint patrol tonight in Khost province were involved in an incident that required the forces to go through standard warning procedures, including firing warning shots toward a vehicle that failed to follow signals.
A local national was wounded and given first aid on the scene and immediately taken to a Coalition medical facility for emergency treatment. “Unfortunately, he died of his wound,” said Col. Greg Julian, U.S. Forces Afghanistan spokesman. “We regret this tragic loss of life and express our condolences to the individual’s family.”
The incident is under investigation.
