KABUL, Afghanistan – Afghan National Security Forces and Coalition forces killed four militants today after being ambushed about three kilometers from a site in Badghis province where a Norwegian Provincial Reconstruction Team was ambushed last week.
The ambush took place as ANSF and Coalition forces were en route to a meeting with village leaders in Ghormach District, where they were going to assess the needs of villagers and coordinate humanitarian assistance.
The combined forces were attacked with rocket-propelled grenade, small-arms and mortar fire. As enemy forces began reinforcing and maneuvering on the patrol, the combined forces fired on the armed militants, killing four.
No ANSF, Coalition forces or civilian casualties have been reported.
