BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan – Afghan and Coalition forces detained four suspected insurgents during operations targeting the Haqqani and Taliban improvised explosive device (IED) and foreign fighter networks in Khost and Ghazni provinces, Thursday.

In Tirzaye District, Afghan and Coalition forces detained two suspected insurgents during an operation that targeted a suspect associated with the Haqqani terrorist network. The targeted insurgent is suspected of being in direct contact with senior Haqqani leaders and assisting the network with the movement of foreign fighters into the region. The suspected insurgent is also believed to coordinate and direct IED attacks that indiscriminately injure and kill innocent civilians and Coalition forces. The combined force conducted their searches without incident.

Coalition forces conducted a second operation, in Waghez District, aimed at disrupting the Taliban’s IED and foreign fighter networks. The operation netted two suspects.
