KANDAHAR AIRFIELD, Afghanistan – Afghan Commandos from the 205th Commando Kandak and Coalition forces dismantled a drug-making facility and destroyed more than 40 metric-tons of hashish in Spin Buldak district, Kandahar province, Nov. 3.
The combined forces were conducting a search of an area known for insurgent activities when the facility was discovered.
“Today’s discovery clearly demonstrated the links between the Taliban and drug trafficking,” said Col. Greg Julian, U.S. Forces Afghanistan spokesperson. “The huge amount of drugs destroyed today will greatly hinder the Taliban’s ability to fund their ongoing, hopeless struggle to subjugate the Afghan people.”
No ANSF, Coalition forces or civilian casualties have been reported.
A search of the area is still ongoing.
