BAGRAM AIR FIELD, Afghanistan (Aug 02, 2008) — Afghan National Security Forces and Coalition forces killed more than a dozen militants during a security patrol in Shaheed Hasas District, Oruzgan province Friday.

ANSF and Coalition forces were conducting a mounted patrol when an IED detonated, striking a Coalition vehicle.

Militants then attacked the patrol with small arms and indirect fire.  ANSF and Coalition troops responded with small-arms fire and close-air support, killing over a dozen militants.

There were no ANSF, Coalition forces or civilian casualties.
