Militants detained in Helmand province

BAGRAM AIR FIELD, Afghanistan (July 9, 2008) — Coalition forces detained five militants during an operation Tuesday in Helmand province.

Coalition forces searched compounds in Req District targeting a Taliban leader that smuggles explosives and weapons including IED materials and heavy machine guns into the area.

Coalition forces discovered and confiscated an AK-47 and ammunition during their search.

However, until recently, there was no safe and effective manner to dispose of sewage, as there was no sewage treatment plant in the area.
