BAGRAM AIR FIELD, Afghanistan (July 4, 2008) – Three militants were detained Thursday during a Coalition forces operation in Helmand province.

Coalition forces searched compounds in Baghram Chah District targeting a militant who facilitates foreign fighter attacks against Afghan government and Coalition forces.  The network is also involved in the smuggling of weapons, including machine guns and rockets.

Coalition forces identified several defensive fighting positions in the surrounding area during the course of their search, and destroyed them with precision air strikes.

Several weapons caches were discovered and destroyed to prevent future militant use.
